My brother-in-law has taught me most (but not all) of what I know about cooking. This past weekend when I was visiting he and my sister in Pawtucket, he taught me another trick of the trade: using vinegar to clean stainless steel pans.
Not to clean, per se, but to shine after cleaning. You've probably experienced it before - you overcook something, leave something in the pan too long, and then clean the pan in the dishwasher. Its clean, but you can still see some metallic marks.
Its actually quite amazing - just a couple drops of vinegar and some swirling it around in the pan makes the marks disappear - like magic!!
